Born in Monterey Park on October 28th, 1989 and raised in Cerritos, I attended
Leal Elementary from Kindergarten to sixth grade. I started the violin when I was five, and I remember playing in numerous Leal Founders’ Days and actively participating in the spring musicals. To further my musical studies, for Junior High I auditioned and got into the Instrumental Music Department of the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA), where I was a member of Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Music Program, and Junior String Orchestra.

Then in ninth grade I decided to return to my hometown because I desired to have a real high school experience, so I attended
Cerritos High School for one year. However, I finally realized that I wanted to purse music as a career, and I heard about an amazing private arts school in Santa Monica which gave ample scholarship to music majors. I auditioned and made it in, and starting from September 2004, I have been a scholarship student in the Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute of the Crossroads School of the Arts and Sciences, where I am a member of the Crossroads Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Music Program.

This year is my third season with the
American Youth Symphony (AYS) under the baton of Mr. Alexander Treger. During the 2004-2005 Season, the American Youth Symphony Orchestra received the rare honor of being invited by Carnegie Hall to make its New York Debut as part of the AYS 40th anniversary celebration with full sponsorship. Performing in Carnegie Hall was a remarkable experience that I will forever treasure.

Moreover, I have had the amazing opportunity to be featured on
K-Mozart playing in the American Youth Symphony, the Crossroads Chamber Orchestra, and Crossroads chamber music groups. For the past several years, I have been a recipient of the Young Musician Foundation Scholarship, Leni Febland Award, Elizabeth Mendell and Heller grant, Westside Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic scholarship, and MTAC Los Angeles Branch Scholarship.

During the last two summers, I attended
Encore School for Strings studying with Victor Danchenko, David and Linda Cerone, and Nick DiEugenio. Currently, I study with Bing Wang and Alexander Treger, both concertmasters of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Now I play on a Becker violin on loan from the Colburn Foundation.

Along with music, I love being active in school and doing community service. I was a member of
PEP/LA (Peer Educators of Los Angeles), which specializes in educating the Los Angeles community about AIDS and AIDS prevention. I spoke at probation centers, schools and teen homes. Also, I have been the president of P.E.A.C.E. (People for Ethnic and Cultural Equality) club at Crossroads for the last two years, and I am an active member of S.O.U.L./STF (Students Organized for Unity and Liberation/Student Task Force), which is the high school branch of Human Rights Watch.

I have represented and continue to represent my school in the Community Leadership Conference for two years,
NAIS People of Color Conference, and Human Rights Watch dinner and Student Task Force conferences. Furthermore this year, my school administrators officially selected me as one of Crossroads’ Student Ambassadors. I am also proud to say that I was just nominated by my club advisor and English teacher/department head, Hyacinth Young at Crossroads to attend 2007 National Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. this spring.
