Thanks to mentoring from IFEPA, pianist Andrew Wonjun Pae, now 17, received a scholarship to Juilliard and is currently studying with Dr. Martin Canin. Andrew's most recent accomplishments include being a finalist in the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition and winning the Grand Prize at the Korea Times Youth Competition.
Born in 1988, he was an honor student at the Orange County High School of the Arts and studied with piano with Professor John Perry with the University of Southern California. By the age of 11, he was invited by the Korean Broadcasting System to perform the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 at the Seoul Arts Center in Seoul, Korea and was invited to play in Germany for the Committee of the World Korean Forum. Andrew has also had the honor of performing an entire concert with the Korean Symphony Orchestra.
At only 15, Andrew was a featured guest artist for Kawai, Yamaha, the Peninsula Committee for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, the Asia America Symphony Association, and the Crystal Cathedral Guild. He attended the Aspen Music Festival as a scholar student and attended the International Klavier Summer Camp in Bad Bertrich, Germany.
As a former member of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus, Andrew performed in numerous operas including Carmen, Billy Budd, La Boheme, and The Queen of Spades, produced at the Los Angeles Music Center. Andrew continues to perform throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe.
