Renee Vanasse is a long-time IFEPA master musician and mentor. She plays an astonishing 11 instruments, with piano being the principle one.
Best know by kids of all ages for her "Stories and Music" concerts, Renee brings old masters to back to life with little-known anecdotes and rumors of love, politics and other factors surrounding the creation of many beloved classical compositions. Although one of her first loves is working with kids, Renee's special musical salons and heart for human harmony appeal to the child in us all.
Renee is an accomplished classical concert pianist. She gave her first professional concerts as both an accompanist and soloist at age seven. Because it takes one to know one, she is able to spot a future IFEPA prodigy and move them from a Music Gang to Master Class with ease.
She studied formally for five years with renowned American composer Radie Britain and earned a four-year scholarship to study with Gwendolyn Williams Koldofsky, the beloved Madame K, at the University of Southern California. She also studied with Arnold Bullock at Arizona State University.
Renee has performed with Elmer Bernstein, David Rose, John Green, Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini and Ernest Gold. She served as music director of California's Desert Opera Theatre for seven years.
