masterclasses

Master Classes are the third step on our pathway to the arts and an important prelude to a young prodigy receiving additional training and supplemental tuition assistance through our newly formed Patrons for Prodigies education endowment.

IFEPA mentors invite their star students for this rare opportunity to receive direct instruction from the world's most prominent professors. Each Master Class accommodates a maximum of five students, each of whom receives 30 precious minutes of personal guidance. The other four students are privileged to remain in the room, look on, listen in and learn.

Master Classes are learning events themed around a particular professors preferred composer. Students are given the opportunity to prepare well in advance knowing that they will have their playing literally picked apart in an effort to help them improve their technique, phrasing, interpretation and presentation.

Over the past decade, internationally renowned and respected professors have accepted our invitation to teach Master Classes, among them Dr. Lev Vlasensko, president of the Tchaikovsky Competition,
Maetro Sergei Dorensky, former head of the Piano Department at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the late Madame Halina Czerny-Stefanska, head of the Piano Department at the Warsaw Conservatory of Music, Dr. Victor Merzhanov, a professor at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Dr. Yuri Slesarev, head of the Piano Deparment at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and Nikolai Luganksy, winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition.
